Congratulations to our two Lockheed Martin/OCPS Foundation 2023-2024 Teacher Impact Grant winners! Tiffany Rogers and Amy Jensen have each been granted $5,000 to support their students.
Tiffany Rogers, Culinary Arts Teacher, says she is excited to receive this grant because it will help give our students more opportunities to practice their skills and compete with them. This grant money will be used for an upcoming competition: the NASA Hunch Competition. This competition requires students to design food dishes that fit within the nutritional guidelines for astronauts in space.
Amy Jensen, a Biomed teacher at Lake Buena Vista HS, said she wrote her grant because she was excited to try out the new labs for the updated PLTW curriculum, and the funds from Lockheed Martin will allow her students to experience the new course fully. She requested kits and equipment that go along with the PLTW curriculum to support labs for measuring ROM (range of motion) in her students’ joints and then comparing their results to the student from the curriculum’s case study.
These grant funds will enable both teachers to have the necessary resources to help their students succeed. Congratulations again to Tiffany Rogers and Amy Jensen, and a massive thank you to our partners at Lockheed Martin and OCPS Foundation!
