OCPS Shines at 96th Annual FFA Convention

For the first time in 50 years, OCPS Agriculture Education/FFA has won a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! From Nov 1-4, the National FFA Convention was held in Indianapolis, Indiana. Over 70,000 FFA members, advisors, and supporters attended the 2nd largest of ALL national conventions in the US. Some of the many events taking place were the national FFA career development events (aka competitions) and the crowning of the top teams/individuals in the nation.

The West Orange HS FFA Chapter, having won the Florida FFA State Championship last spring, competed for national honors in the Food Science & Technology Career Development Event among all other state winners from their respective states. After months of hard work, commitment, and preparation with precision, it is my distinct honor to say that they were named NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! Again, from what I have been told, this is the first for OCPS FFA, and history has been made!

Congratulations to West Orange High School FFA National Champion Food Science & Technology Team!

Timber Creek competed in the National FFA Veterinary Science CDE and won the Florida FFA state championship last spring. They earned the national silver team award.

Finally, the Orlando-Colonial HS FFA received its 3-star national chapter award, and several of our OCPS FFA student members received their American FFA Degree, which is the highest membership degree in FFA.
