Faculty Spotlight: Excellence in Education

Earlier this year, Massage Therapy Instructor at OTC Avalon, Jonah Saloman, was recognized for his achievements with the Massage Envy “Excellence in Education” award.

Massage Envy is the largest employer of massage therapists and estheticians in the United States, employing over 15,000 masseuses and estheticians. In 2013, they launched the “Excellence in Education” award to highlight the best-in-class massage therapy schools in the nation. The top schools are selected based on the following criteria: educational program, curriculum, level of student and graduate support, involvement within the industry, graduate feedback, additional outstanding achievements, and recognition from accrediting agencies and industry associations.

Jonah Saloman and Orange Technical College met these criteria. They were selected as one of only four nationwide winners to receive this noteworthy award, a feat Jonah says he is very proud of. Jonah is a driver in creating the program curriculum based on his experiences and observing the trials and errors of other schools. It’s a great honor that our partners at Massage Envy have seen the work Jonah has dedicated to our students and selected him to be an “Excellence in Education” award winner.

In April, Jonah was sponsored by the Massage Envy Orlando Franchise partners to attend the 2023 Massage Envy Annual Summit Awards Ceremony, where he was able to join in on a round table discussion with other Excellence in Education winners, explore the vendor expo and enjoy the Award Gala.

Thanks to Jonah’s contributions and all those who support the program, Orange Technical College is an assigned school with the National Certified Board on Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), which allows students to sit for the Board Certification Exam.

Congrats again to Jonah for this achievement!
