Melanie Stefanowicz Director’s Message – New Year

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday season and was able to enjoy time with family and friends, rest, and relax. I know I took some time to disconnect and enjoy the holidays and a little time off from work and graduate work.

I am pleased to share that after a three-year journey, I successfully defended my dissertation in November and finished my doctoral work in December. Completing this program was a significant investment of time outside of my career and so it is interesting to suddenly have the weekends and evenings off from academic pursuits! And I definitely took advantage of that free time to jump-start a half-marathon training program.

The fall semester seemed to fly by so quickly. As we head into the second semester, we expect that momentum to continue throughout the spring and summer.

We have a lot of great events and work-based learning opportunities planned for students including the 2023 Annual Culinary Competition, Culinary Demonstrations, and Workshops, the Annual Biomedical Competition, the STEM Symposium, the Student Internship Fair, the Capture the Flag Competition, the OTC IT Expo, the Entrepreneurship and Business Marketing Pitch Fest, and the Premier Agriculture Career Experience to name a few.

If you or your company are interested in engaging in any of these events or supporting unique work-based learning or internship experiences for students, please don’t hesitate to connect with me.

As we enter the new year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your dedication and support of Orange Technical College and OCPS’s career, technical, and adult education programs. I am especially thankful for the business and industry partners who showed up for all of the professional development conferences, student competitions, symposiums, site tours, and student mentoring and scholarship opportunities.

We appreciate the investment of time, energy, and expertise. Please know that we are grateful for your support as we continue to Reimagine Our Schools.

Wishing you and yours all the best for a new year filled with great happiness and continued success.
