CTE Student Spotlight: Anthony (T-TEN)

Anthony is part of the T-TEN program under Thor Bjornsson and John Holman at the South Campus of Orange Technical College. Our T-TEN program trains students to become automotive service technicians for Toyota and Lexus.

Anthony came to us with quite a bit of informal experience because his dad is a master technician at a Toyota dealership. One indicator of a program’s quality is that employers recommend a student receive training there. The fact that Anthony’s father would recommend our school speaks volumes about the reputation of our program, which was established under the instruction of Mr. Holman and Mr. Bjornsson.

Anthony not only had a great attitude and a strong work ethic, but he also loved to learn. Anthony excelled in the program and passed all 11 ASE exams during his two years at OTC. Depending upon the employer, each successfully passed ASE exam could be worth anywhere between $0.50 to $1.00 more per hour for the student once they complete the program. This year’s class had the highest ASE pass rate since 2017!

Anthony also decided to participate in our Skills USA competitions this year. He won a gold medal at the regional and state levels and will now compete at the national championships in June.

Anthony’s story shows that a willingness to learn, coupled with a strong work ethic and a great attitude, will ensure success in all areas of life.
